Worked as a gardener in a London 'lunatic asylum' (Brooke House, Clapton)when he was 19 where he met Letitia Young (26) who was working there as a nurse. Gideon Gardiner, The Medical Superintedent, of the asylum had come from Bisley and many of the people employed there came from that area too.

Edgar married Letitia Young, daughter of William Young and Elizabeth Seyer, on 7 Jan 1868 in Parish Church, Homerton, Middlesex. (Letitia Young was born about 1832 in Hartfield, Sussex and died in 1885 in Hackney, London.)
Edgar next married Alice Gertrude Pearse, daughter of Frederic Pearse and Rebecca Boult, in 1886 in Croydon (Gro Ref April - June 2A 408). (Alice Gertrude Pearse was born in 1843 in Norfolk and died on 13 Aug 1925 in 22 Anerley Park, Penge.)
